All the Amoreys join the millions who mourn the passing of the great Bo Diddley.

I got to meet him and interview him and am proud to say he owned some drawings I did of him about 18 years ago. The interview was conducted by telephone and the recording was impossible (before we had slick devices!) What I remember about Bo Diddley was his enormous presence he was a STAR in any room of musicians and fans. Affable and humorous he was also very astute observer of the human comedy and knew first hand the pain of poverty and oppression.

Something he said when we were talking about the advancement of electronic and computers into industry will always stay with me; "Machines don't go shopping!" That pretty much sums up the crisis facing our modern age as far as I am concerned!

I also liked what he was quoted as saying in the New York times obituary: For his part, Mr. Diddley had no misgivings about facing a skeptical audience. "You cannot say what people are gonna like or not gonna like," he explained later to the biographer George R. White. "You have to stick it out there and find out! If they taste it, and they like the way it tastes, you can bet they'll eat some of it!"

The Amoreys love to cover a few of Bo's tunes and Rich is known to sing one! Bo Diddley will always inspire us and anyone who yearns to rock! He is an immortal- long live Bo Diddley and the Diddley Beat!

The time has come (as we all knew it would) to talk of many things!

First let us wish you a Happy New Year and “Jolly Buffer” to protect you against idiotic policies both foreign and domestic (on sale now at the Amorey’s merchandise section for only $9.99!)

Now let’s all catch up with the Amoreys—America’s most punctual band—before it’s too late! Firstly, the Amoreys have reconvened in the base station for tea and strategic planning in 2008 and the results have been speculative and spectacular! We have determined that America wants “CHANGE”, “CHANGE” and more “CHANGE”. The Amoreys can bring the “CHANGE” America desperately longs for. The Amoreys and only the Amoreys (with God’s grace and your help of course) will deliver the “CHANGE” in attractive colorful bundles much like Hickory Farms or Harry & David. The “CHANGE” we will bring will be so changeful you might not recognize it at first. But then a warm spring wind will flare in your nostrils and you will inhale the scent of the good earth mixed with copious quantities of B.S. and you’ll say, “The Amoreys are back!”

What are the specifics of the “CHANGE” that the Amorey’s offer?—you well may ask yourself, and will America still be recognizable after the “CHANGE” has been made?? The Amoreys think you should calm down and let us worry about the “CHANGE”. We know that the Mauve states and the Chartreuse states will be drawn together as the spirit of “CHANGE” sweeps over the purple mountains and amber waves till everything is ever'thang! Suffice it to say, we’re talkin’ “CHANGE”!

What won’t “CHANGE” is our deep love and respect for our devoted fan(s)! To further the congenial relations (in some cases conjugal—hey you know who you are!) The Amoreys have arranged for a healthy dosage of musical massage in these smoke free dens!

Marvelous and mesmerizing - mid May in our beloved Chicago- Who needs and excuse to enjoy life - joie de vive(sp) - Well if you need one here it is - The Amoreys have burst forth from the nymphal crusty shells and left the exoskeleton (not unlike Red Exoskeleton) in the distant past - Now follows a period of Joyous music making - heard far and wide by appreciative nature lovers everywhere - Hark!! - there in the Smoke Free confines of Lincoln Lanes the songs become particularly intense and melodious this Saturday Night - join the happy throngs - beat your wings in applause and expressive dance - the "adult" stage is short is it not!! Huzzah Buzzah!!

That’s Amoreys — not — “am - ur- heys” —

Well, this autumn is certainly delicious and worthy of some rockin’ tribute. And who should be celebrating his 80th blessed year on earth but heavenly CHUCK BERRY!! And who would have just celebrated his 70th — if he was still with us but the immortal BUDDY HOLLY – calls for a tribute of mammoth proportions and the Amoreys are down to take part at the Old Town School Tribute to Chuck and Buddy.

We will get busy with Old Town School Staff & Friends

Guess what else - the Old Town School celebrates its 50th this year — we are mighty proud to be playing in this magnificent hall and participating with a great group of talented musicians. The thing that would put the “Berry Is On Top” (title of a Chuck LP )
Would be for you to be there — even if you ain’t sweet little sixteen no more (who is?) ONCE IN AWHILE YOU NEED SOME ROCK AND ROLL!

We also urge those who want to be amazed to head to the DRUM OFF at Guitar Center where, the well named, BAM BAM (Amorey stalwart skin basher) will take the kids to school. He’s on his way — call the store for details but it is Tuesday evening!

We Amoreys are migrating … that’s right— — pay attention … stop dancin’ for a freakin’ minute — THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE AMOREY WHITHER RADAR ….don’t be like …”where’s duh Amoreys website???? … Oh migod, what the hell happened to the Amoreys???

We have simply ventured to a new host — Steadfast Ralph Amorey (code name ROM) has cashed in his figurative chips and had to kick us out of the internet nest he graciously provided lo these many years — He is quite a guy that ROM and a lovely silent partner (not the old blues euphemism you’re conjuring) and he has earned the coveted Amoreys Splashy Mensch Service Medal with the tiger eye and oak leaf cluster!! Salute!!

Now we Amoreys are out there or… up there… without a pad — ….oh wait! — Hope is in sight this won’t be so freaking hard after all — WE ARE SAVED!! You will still be able to find us at www.amoreys.com — (Unless we temporarily screw up the domain transfer on or around July 1.)
